(ReliableNews.org) – In 1977, Congress passed the Hyde Amendment 40 years ago. It’s a law that prevents people from obtaining public funds for abortions except in the case of a pregnancy resulting from rape or incest. Now, the Democrats want to overturn the amendment and they think Joe Biden will help.
On December 8, the House Appropriations Committee held a hearing about women who weren’t able to have abortions because of their inability to pay. The only way to ensure everyone has access to the service is for the government to fund it. That’s why activists want to overturn Hyde.
Our laws are meant to protect.
Yet pro-abortion politicians are trying to overturn the Hyde Amendment, which has saved an estimated 2.4 million lives from abortion, and force taxpayers to fund abortion.

So where does Biden stand on the issue? For years, the former vice president didn’t support overturning the amendment. However, in 2019, he reversed his stance after pro-abortion activists put pressure on him. He suddenly declared he could “no longer support” the amendment because it makes it hard for women to “access care.”
If Biden is sworn in next month and the Democratic Party takes control of the Senate, the Hyde Amendment could be on the chopping block leaving American taxpayers to pay for abortions.
