Actor Suddenly Collapses on Stage

(ReliableNews.org) – On March 5, patrons headed to the Ambassadors Theatre in London’s West End to attend the opening night of “Cock.” Actor Taron Egerton was also there that night, excited about what was to come during the first night of his new play. Unfortunately, the night didn’t go as anyone planned.

Egerton, known for playing Elton John in “Rocketman,” was about three-fourths of the way through the play when he suddenly collapsed. A doctor in the audience helped the actor and the play stopped for about 40 minutes. When it began again, Egerton’s understudy Joel Harper-Jackson finished the show. The play’s director, Marianne Elliott, took to the stage before the show began again to confirm the actor was okay.

Later, Egerton posted on Instagram to let everyone know his neck was sore and his ego sorer, but he was fine. The actor explained he decided to put a “positive spin on it” and just say he gave such a “committed, electrifying performance” his body decided to check out. He thanked his understudy for finishing the show, calling him “an amazing actor and a lovely person.”

The actor was back on stage on Sunday night, proving the show must go on.
