(ReliableNews.org) – Democrats are currently negotiating a $3.5-trillion human infrastructure bill. Republicans have made it clear that they do not support the legislation because they believe the price tag is way too high. They also worry that President Joe Biden is spending far too much money and saddling the American people with the bill.
Moderate Democratic Senators Kyrsten Sinema (AZ) and Joe Manchin (WV) agree. The lawmakers are currently holding up negotiations in the Senate. Meanwhile, President Joe Biden is trying to sell the package to the American people and opponents in Congress by lying about what’s in it.
On September 24, Biden addressed the press about the COVID-19 pandemic. During his remarks, he brought up his Build Back Better agenda. He said everyone is talking about the price tag of the plan, but he claimed there “is a zero price tag on the debt. We’re paying — we’re going to pay for everything we spend.” Common sense says that if we have to pay for something, then it doesn’t cost zero dollars. But that wasn’t the last time the president would make that seemingly asinine claim.
The next day, on September 25, Biden tweeted the claim again.
My Build Back Better Agenda costs zero dollars.
Instead of wasting money on tax breaks, loopholes, and tax evasion for big corporations and the wealthy, we can make a once-in-a-generation investment in working America.
And it adds zero dollars to the national debt.

Not everyone is convinced the president has his math right.
The Washington Post’s Glenn Kessler gave Biden “Two Pinocchios” for his claims. The fact-checker explained that when the bill was originally proposed, it was supposed to work in tandem with a bipartisan infrastructure plan that will leave a $1.8-trillion budget deficit.
The human infrastructure plan he now says will add $0 to the deficit is much larger than it was when first proposed. Although the spending will be offset by increased revenue, there’s a possibility it could add nothing to the deficit or add $1.75-trillion over the next decade. Kessler said, “Lawmakers are certain to play all sorts of budget games to achieve that mythical zero within the 10-year budget framework.”
However, the journalist explained that given the history of spending bills, he’s sure that if the president achieves the zero budget deficit goal, it’ll be the result of “dubious gimmicks” used to conceal the real cost.
Republican lawmakers slammed Biden for the claims. Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL) called the president a liar.
This is a lie. https://t.co/Fvc1FLVk1X

The Jewish Institute for National Security of America analyst Erielle Davidson said, “[Biden’s] comms person is ‘economically illiterate.’”
It seems people are seeing right through the president and his claims.
