Biden Furious With “MAGA” After Court’s Ruling Against Him

The status allows these individuals to defer any removal actions against them for up to two years at a time. They can request DACA through an application process if they meet the guidelines outlined by the government. Now the program is in jeopardy, and President Joe Biden is angry.
The Ruling
On October 5, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a decision made by a lower court that ruled against the DACA program. However, the judicial body said those currently enrolled in the program — known as “Dreamers” — could still renew their status. The federal appeals court agreed with the ruling, calling DACA unlawful. The entity fell short of ordering Biden to dismantle the program.
The appeals court ruled individual states have the right to challenge the program and that former President Barack Obama “did not follow the law” when creating the immigration remedy. The body also decided the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) could still accept new applications for the program but couldn’t approve or reject them for now.
Biden’s Reaction
The president released a statement following the decision, relaying his disappointment about the ruling. Although he admitted the ruling was a temporary relief, he said the future of DACA recipients was in trouble and the lives of program recipients were “in limbo.”
The US leader then pointed the finger of blame at Republican leaders. Biden said state officials are the ones looking to strip these people of their “protections and work authorization,” saying many have had those privileges for over 10 years in some cases. Toward the end of his statement, the president specifically mentioned MAGA Republicans, saying this move is just another example of them pushing an “extreme agenda.”

Biden wants Congress to step up on this matter, giving Dreamers “permanent protections” and a solid pathway towards American citizenship. Over 600,000 people are using the DACA program begun by Obama and his administration.
