Biden Makes Stunning Health Update Amid COVID Battle

(ReliableNews.org) – On July 21, President Joe Biden revealed he tested positive for COVID-19. The diagnosis was worrisome because the 79-year-old is in a high-risk group for serious illness. Fortunately, one week later, the POTUS is on the road to recovery.

On Wednesday, July 27, Biden posted a photo of his negative COVID-19 test on Twitter. He announced he was heading back to the Oval Office and thanked America for its support.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre shared a letter from the president’s physician, Kevin C. O’Connor, who said the president completed a five-day course of the antiviral drug, Paxlovid. The doctor said Biden tested negative once on Tuesday night and again on Wednesday morning.

Paxlovid is the same medication Dr. Anthony Fauci took when he tested positive for COVID-19 in June. Physicians give the drug to people whose immune system or age puts them at high risk for severe illness. Patients take three pills twice a day for five days. However, there are cases of rebound infections in those who have taken the treatment. That means they can test positive again and develop symptoms. O’Connor acknowledged the possibility but said the president would continue receiving tests for the immediate future.

Biden was likely infected with the new BA.5 variant of the virus which is regarded as the most transmissible form of COVID-19 yet. It, along with BA.4, is responsible for roughly 80% of the cases around the US.
