Biden Official Disagrees With Fauci As Battle For Mask Mandates Continues

(ReliableNews.org) – Earlier this month, a federal judge in Florida struck down the mask mandate for travel. NIAID Director Anthony Fauci made it pretty clear he didn’t support the decision, even going as far as to say the judge shouldn’t have been involved in the battle. However, one of his colleagues in President Joe Biden’s administration doesn’t agree with him.

White House COVID Coordinator Ashish Jha appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” on April 24, where he discussed the recent repeal of the mask mandate. During his remarks, he contradicted Fauci, saying the “judiciary has an important role to play.” The NIAID director previously said the mask mandate was an issue for the CDC, not a court issue.

Although Jha and Fauci don’t agree about the court’s role in the mask mandates, they both believe the ruling was wrong. Jha told CNN the DOJ is appealing the decision to repeal the mandate. He also said he believes the decisions about public health should “follow the science” but once again told the network the courts are a co-equal part of the government and play an important role in policy.

What do you think about the court’s decision to end the mask mandate?
