Biden Pick Faces Warranted Backlash for Border Decisions

( – While the current situation at the border would likely be labeled as a crisis no matter who was in charge of it, most emergencies can be dealt with well if met with solid leadership. But, as the number of unaccompanied minors crossing the border continues to grow and tens of thousands remain in border facilities, many Americans, including lifelong Democrats, are questioning the head of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for its handling of the crisis.

Xavier Becerra, a former California attorney general, was confirmed to lead the HHS a over a month ago. His department has a huge hand in housing and caring for incoming migrants. However, according to a Politico report, at least eight government officials believe the Democrat is mishandling the situation, likely due to lack of experience in public health management.

Washington Examiner correspondent Byron York shares more:

President Joe Biden first turned over the border responsibility to Vice President Kamala Harris, who appeared to do nothing productive, and now Xavier Becerra is in the line of fire with similar results. No one seems to be able to get a handle on the surge of migrants at our southern border. Perhaps Becerra was meant to be the fall guy for this chaos all along, but either way someone within the Biden administration needs to take charge soon if we are to keep our nation and the thousands of children at our borders, safe.
