“Days of Our Lives” Star’s Cause of Death Confirmed

Days of Our Lives Star's Cause of Death Confirmed

(ReliableNews.org) – Actor Cody Longo passed away in February. The former Days of Our Lives actor was found in bed at his home. His cause of death has finally been released.

According to reports, Longo’s autopsy report listed his cause of death as “chronic ethanol abuse.” His manner of death was natural. When the actor’s body was discovered, the report stated it was already decomposing, and authorities noted the room was littered with bottles of alcohol. His family told TMZ after his death that he’d struggled with alcohol abuse for years and even went to rehab in the summer of 2022. Sadly, he relapsed, and it took his life.

After Longo’s death in February, his wife, Stephanie Longo, shared a tribute to him online. She indicated addiction ultimately took his life but didn’t explain exactly what it was. The couple had three children together. She said that in the wake of his death, she’d run through a wide range of emotions and beat herself up, thinking she could have done more to “save” him. In the end, he lost his battle with addiction.

In addition to his time on “Days of Our Lives,” Longo appeared on “Nashville,” “Hollywood Heights,” “Make It or Break It,” and played other roles in television and movies. Alex Gittelson, the actor’s manager, said Longo had taken a break from acting to pursue a possible music career and “spend more time with his family.” Eventually, he planned to get back to acting.

Longo’s life had some serious bumps in the road. In 2021, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault after an incident with a 9-year-old girl in 2019. Police originally arrested him for sexual assault on a child, but the charges were dropped. His attorney at the time refuted he ever sexually assaulted anyone, and ultimately, he was given a deal that would have wiped the simple assault from his record in 18 months.
