(ReliableNews.org) – President Donald Trump and other prominent Republicans want Congress to revise Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act to loosen the liability protections for internet companies. Big Tech has repeatedly shown it has a Left-leaning bias that’s impacting conservatives. Constitutional lawyer Alan Dershowitz is now speaking out against the industry.
On Sunday, December 13, Dershowitz spoke to NY WABC 770 AM radio’s “The Cats Roundtable,” and discussed the problem with online censorship. He said it isn’t “fair” that social media companies are acting as publishers and platforms because they are able to censor Americans and are protected from liability.
Dershowitz spoke about the decision by social media companies to suppress Hunter Biden stories before the election. Section 230 prevented the platforms from lawsuits even though they were acting as the publishers which would normally mean they could face repercussions. He went on to say America is going to have to figure out how to apply the First Amendment to tech companies and the businesses need to know they are not “immune from the law.”
