(ReliableNews.org) – The White House is probably the most protected place in the United States. Secret Service agents guard it every minute of the day. Recently, authorities arrested a person who ran into the gate of the president’s home.
On January 8, shortly before 6 p.m., a driver crashed their vehicle into an exterior gate near the White House. The fire department responded to the scene and cleared it. Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesperson for the Secret Service, posted a statement on X (formerly Twitter) stating that police took the driver of the vehicle into custody and would be investigating the cause of the collision.

The New York Times published another statement from Guglielmi, saying there was “no risk to the complex or the adjacent neighborhood.”
President Joe Biden wasn’t at the White House at the time of the accident. He spoke at Mother Emanuel AME Church in South Carolina that morning. Later, he traveled to Texas to attend a wake for former Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson.
No information is known about the driver of the vehicle. Photos from the scene showed an SUV parked outside the gates, but it didn’t appear to have any damage.

There have been several similar incidents in recent months. In May, 19-year-old Sai Varshith Kandula was driving a rented U-Haul that he crashed into the security barriers near the White House. The driver told authorities he liked Adolf Hitler and wanted to kill the president, who was at home at the time of the accident. He had a Nazi flag with him.
In December 2022, a uniformed Secret Service agent tried to pull a vehicle over near the White House. The driver tried to flee the agent at a high rate of speed. They struck a 75-year-old man, killing him. A 13-year-old girl was also injured in the accident.
