(ReliableNews.org) – America’s support of Israel in its war against Hamas has become a major issue for President Joe Biden. Many young people and Progressives are angry with the POTUS for not pushing for a cease-fire. An actress was recently arrested while protesting the situation.
On February 26, “Euphoria” actress Hunter Schafer joined a group of demonstrators in New York City who entered the lobby of the NBCUniversal headquarters. Biden was in the city to film an appearance on “Late Night With Seth Meyers.” Jewish Voice for Peace NYC organized the protest. The organization supports a permanent cease-fire in Gaza, has accused Israel of committing genocide, doesn’t believe Israel should be a Jewish nation, and is among those criticizing Biden for continuing to provide aid to the country.
Jewish Voice for Peace posted photos of the protest on X, formerly Twitter, and said there’s a “growing public consensus” about the need for a cease-fire “as the death toll eclipses 30,000” in the Gaza Strip. They slammed Biden for pledging an additional $14 billion in aid for Israel.

The Jewish group issued a statement to NBC News, saying they commended Schafer’s “commitment to Palestinian freedom and to a future of justice for everyone.” The protesters wore shirts with the phrases “Not in Our Name” and “Ceasefire Now.” They were heard chanting, “Let Gaza live,” as the president’s motorcade drove through the area. At one point, Shafer was captured sitting on the floor, holding a sign that read, “Jews to Biden: Stop Arming Genocide.”
A New York City Police Department spokesperson told the media that officers arrested 30 protesters at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in Manhattan. They were issued summonses for disorderly conduct and trespassing.
The actress’ public relations team didn’t release any statements about her arrest. While she was the only actress arrested at the NYC protest, other stars have also spoken out about the conflict. Sara Ramirez, who played on “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Madam Secretary,” recently insinuated that she was fired from “And Just Like That” over her support for Israel, but sources disputed her claims.
