Famous Past Rocker Arrested for Murdering Girlfriend

(ReliableNews.org) – In 1985, Mike Patton, Trey Spruance, and Trevor Dunn formed the band titled Mr. Bungle while they were in high school. The following year, saxophonist and keyboardist Theo Lengyel joined the group full-time, helping Mr. Bungle release its demo, “The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny.” The thrash metal band had some success in the musical world before breaking up in 2004. Before that, the founding members forced Lengyel out of the group. Now, he’s in the headlines again — but not for his musical talent.

On January 4, the Associated Press reported that Capitola Police in California arrested Lengyel for allegedly killing his ex-wife, Alice “Alyx” Kamakaokalani Herrmann. According to authorities, the woman hadn’t been seen since December 3, 2023, in Santa Cruz County. By the middle of the month, she was listed as a missing person, and police began to investigate her disappearance.

Herrmann’s remains were found near Tilden Regional Park in Berkeley. Police suspected foul play, and the evidence they collected led to Lengyel’s arrest. According to People, authorities not only picked up Lengyel but his vehicle as well.

Police were tight-lipped about the circumstances surrounding Hermann’s suspected murder, as the investigation is ongoing. While authorities are confident the human remains are that of the victim, DNA confirmation is pending at the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office. However, Lengyel is under arrest for first-degree murder and is reportedly being held without bond, and it’s unclear whether or not he’s obtained an attorney.

KRCR News revealed that court records show Hermann filed a restraining order against the suspect in 2017 after a domestic violence incident. They subsequently filed for divorce.

As for Mr. Bungle, the band reunited in 2020, performing a handful of shows — without Lengyel. Original members Mike Patton, Trey Spruance, and Trevor Dunn, joined by Dave Lombardo, planned to re-record “The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny” that year — the song that started it all.
