(ReliableNews.org) – Brian Laundrie, a person of interest in the murder of his ex-fiancĂ© Gabby Petito, disappeared weeks ago shortly after returning home from a cross-country trip without her or any explanation for her absence. After looking for clues to his location for weeks, the FBI announced the discovery of partial human remains in a Sarasota Country, Florida, reserve close to his parent’s home on Wednesday afternoon, October 20.
The following day, FBI public affairs specialist Amy Jewett Sampson issued a press release announcing a comparison of dental records confirmed the remains belonged to Laundrie. She also thanked the numerous law enforcement agencies for their “investigative support” throughout the ordeal.

Laundrie’s parents reported him missing on September 17, sparking the nationwide search for his whereabouts. His family claimed they last saw him on September 13. Law enforcement officials also recovered a white bag containing a backpack and notebook next to his remains. Laundrie was the only person of interest in Petito’s disappearance at the time of the discovery of his body.
So far, the FBI hasn’t released any information regarding the backpack’s contents or the notebook. However, officials confirmed they appeared consistent with items believed to be in his possession when he disappeared.
We will keep you updated as more information becomes available regarding Petito’s murder and the discovery of Laundrie’s corpse.
