(ReliableNews.org) – Democrats often press for stricter gun laws because they claim that will reduce gun violence. California has some of the toughest restrictions in the country but has the most mass shootings. Another one has now taken place.
On March 3, officers with the King City Police Department responded to a call about a shooting around 6 p.m. local time. Officers found three men dead from gunshot wounds. People at the location of the shooting transported a woman to Mee Memorial Hospital after she suffered gunshot wounds. Doctors pronounced her dead.
The deceased victims were later identified as
- Olivo Perez Pina, 32
- Mario Guzman Mendoza, 42
- Francisco Aldape Perez, 32
- Alicia Ramirez Aparicio, 32
Seven other people were also shot. First responders and civilians transported them to Natividad Medical Center. Two of the injured victims were in critical condition, and the other five had non-life-threatening injuries.
According to reports, the victims were all at a party when it turned violent. Three people wearing dark clothing and masks exited a vehicle and opened fire on the home. All of the deceased victims were gunned down outside the house.
After the shooting, the suspects escaped the scene and have not been arrested. King City Mayor Mike LeBarre issued a statement saying the community was “heartbroken” and thinking about the loved ones of those who were murdered. He reassured the community that officials were “taking all actions and dedicating all resources in [their] power to bring” the shooters to justice.
The shooting in California wasn’t the only one to occur over the first weekend of March. A woman died at a nightclub in Mississippi, and 12 others suffered injuries. In Missouri, an adult and a child were shot at a high school basketball game. Two people got into an altercation at an apartment complex in Arkansas, and a 2-year-old was shot.
