On October 31, fellow actor Maurice Benard posted on Instagram that his friend had passed away from a “cardiac event in his San Diego apartment.” However, his confirmed cause of death is still unclear. Bernard called Christopher a “sweet soul” and a beloved friend to everyone in his life. He also noted that his former colleague was not only a talented actor but a vocal advocate for those struggling with substance abuse and mental health issues. Christopher’s struggles in that area prompted him to help others and bring awareness to these issues.
Christopher reportedly suffered from bipolar depression and alcohol abuse. He talked about his treatment and advocated for better options for those struggling with similar problems. Benard sent his condolences to the actor’s dad and his children, stating he was “beyond devastated” by the news.
The artist’s representative, Chi Muoi Lo, released a statement to CBS News saying Christopher’s death was “shocking.” He shared the same views of the actor, saying how “devastated” he was to lose such an “amazing friend.” Like many others, he sent condolences to Christopher’s grieving family.
Frank Valentini, the executive producer of “General Hospital,” also commented about Christopher’s passing. He also said the actor was incredibly talented and a “dear friend” who was well-loved. The executive said he was “heartbroken” about the loss.
