(ReliableNews.org) – The United States is finally starting to recover from the ravages of the COVID-19 pandemic due in large part to big pharmaceutical companies like Johnson & Johnson. However, although the country may be on the mend from the coronavirus, there’s a newer health concern ringing alarm bells.
On July 14, Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. issued a voluntary recall of five specific Aveeno and Neutrogena aerosol sunscreen products sold directly to consumers. Recent internal testing discovered low levels of a cancer-causing agent called benzene in a few random samples of those products.

Affected products include Aveeno Protect and Refresh sunscreen. Neutrogena products include the following sunscreens:
- Cool Dry Sport
- Ultra Sheer
- Beach Defense
- Invisible Daily
Johnson & Johnson’s recall notice advised consumers to quit using those products and appropriately discard them in accordance with local and state law. Distributors and retailers should return unsold containers to Johnson & Johnson.
Persons interested in obtaining additional information about the recall can call Johnson & Johnson’s Care Center 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at 1-800-458-1673. They can also contact a licensed healthcare professional if they have concerns about the past use of any of those products. They can also visit www.Neutrogena.com and www.Aveeno.com to see product images and review lot numbers.
How can a large company like Johnson & Johnson not know what’s in its products? Should Americans be concerned about what’s in their COVID vaccine?
