(ReliableNews.org) – In 2023, a GOP congressman introduced impeachment articles against Vice President Kamala Harris. The article accused her of failing to do her job to secure the southwest border. A congressman has now expanded the impeachment articles.
On Tuesday, July 23, Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) introduced articles of impeachment against the VP for allegedly committing high crimes and misdemeanors. The impeachment articles accused the vice president of failing in her duty by allegedly hiding President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline.
The congressman claimed Harris “disgraced” her office and “disregarded her oath.” He called her “an embarrassment to the country” and said she ignored her responsibility to protect America. He said that every city in America has become a border town during her tenure as vice president. He claimed that hundreds of thousands of people have died from drug overdoses that entered the US through the border “and countless women and children [have] been raped and murdered.”
The last sentence is a reference to the murder of Lanken Riley, a 22-year-old Georgia nursing student who was allegedly killed by a Venezuelan immigrant while she was out jogging. In Texas, 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray was found dead by a creek in June. Two Venezuelan immigrants have been charged with murder for her death. Biden appointed Harris to serve as his border czar but critics have accused her of doing nothing. The administration has never given a detailed account of what actions she has taken to solve the crisis along the border.
The impeachment articles came just two days after President Joe Biden endorsed her to take over for him as the Democratic nominee. Many members of the party have also lined up behind her to support her, including former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who allegedly led the charge to oust Biden. Democrats will formally choose a new nominee at the Democratic National Convention, which begins on August 19.
