(ReliableNews.org) – North Korea is more cut-off from the world than it’s ever been in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Leader Kim Jong-un closed off his country early on to prevent a mass casualty incident like what was seen in the US and other countries. On March 10, North Korea’s state news agency KCNA reported, Kim said “a lot” of military satellites would be launched into the sun-synchronous polar orbit over the next few years. His remarks came as he toured the National Aerospace Development Administration (NADA). The agency claimed Kim said the purpose of the satellites is to “provide the armed forces … real-time information” about what the US, South Korean, and Japanese forces are doing.

According to a NewsMax report, the US has heightened its missile defense system readiness because of Kim’s recent erratic behavior. The North Korean leader has claimed he has a missile that could reach the US. Further, experts say the launching of a satellite is concerning because it uses the same banned ballistic missile technology. The US Director of National Intelligence (DNI) released its annual Worldwide Threat Assessment in March and said the country could be preparing a nuclear bomb test in 2022.
