Billionaire Pushes Reparations for Blacks Post-Pandemic

( – It has been said that history repeats itself if people aren’t paying attention. The Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918 lasted until April 1920. It was quickly followed by the Roaring Twenties, a period of massive economic prosperity and spending.

Black Entertainment Television (BET) founder Robert Johnson is promoting a $14 trillion proposal to make reparations to African-Americans for slavery in hopes of creating a massive economic boom, the likes of which hasn’t been seen in America in decades, perhaps all the way back to the Roaring Twenties.

He also wants an official apology from the American government for slavery, Jim Crow laws, and generations of systemic racism.

He claims that multi-trillion-dollar figure is enough to close the income gap between African Americans and whites manifest through wages, occupations attainment, and homeownership, along with several other economic measures.

His plan would provide a one-time cash payment of nearly $351,000 to every African American living in the United States who is a descendant of slaves. He says the funds could be raised through some sort of “redistribution” program, a common refrain in socialist societies.

Basically, Johnson is asking the government to come up with trillions of dollars of money from an unknown source or sources to pay restitution for damages inflicted on Africans 200+ years ago. That’s not to say the program doesn’t warrant careful consideration. It just appears to lack a few important pieces, at least for now.
