Liberal TV Hosts Fear Trump May Shut Them Down

(ReliableNews.org) – Former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden are locked in a tight race for the White House. People on both sides of the aisle are raising concerns about what will happen if the opposing candidate wins the race. Liberal television hosts are especially fearful.

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow has claimed nobody will be “safe” if Trump wins reelection. During an interview, the television host said that she was worried the former president would put her in a “camp” if he won a second term. She said Trump and his allies have spoken about “weaponizing the government to seek revenge against critics in media and politics.” She said that some of the most extreme supporters of the presumptive GOP candidate have threatened to jail Americans.

Maddow said Trump has promised to “root out” America’s “enemy from within” and made other similar comments. She claimed he believes the stuff he is saying and history has shown what happens when people make comments like that.

Critics said Maddow was exaggerating. However, “The View’s” Joy Behar said the MSNBC host isn’t being dramatic at all. When Maddow joined the daytime talk show on June 18, Behar said that she was with her and thinks Trump “is so vindictive that he will go after [his critics]” in any way possible. She suggested that he might use the IRS or other means to target them.

Maddow tried to quell Behar’s fears, saying they would probably be okay because they have the resources to fight back but said that she believes he chooses people to terrorize.

The president of the US can’t shut down television shows. The First Amendment prohibits the government from censoring speech. During the 2016 presidential race, Democrats claimed Trump would be the end of democracy. He went on to serve in the Oval Office for four years and despite the fearmongering, the country didn’t burn to the ground.
