Lindsey Graham Warns Against Calling Witnesses At Trump Trial

Washington, DC - September 8, 2015: Senator Lindsey Graham, candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, speaks at a National Press Club luncheon.

(ReliableNews.org) – The Democratic-led Senate began its long-awaited impeachment trial of Donald Trump on Tuesday, February 9. It remains unclear whether House impeachment managers will subpoena documents or call witnesses. That discussion isn’t slated to occur until after Democratic prosecutors and Trump’s defense team have a maximum of two days each to present their cases.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) warned that turnabout is fair play during an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity on Monday night, February 8. Hannity offered Graham his list of potential Democratic witnesses to call, like Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Nancy Pelosi. “Would you consider looking at my list?” he asked.

Graham responded that if Democrats called even one witness, Trump’s defense team would call everyone on Hannity’s list “and then some” to the witness stand.

As Graham concluded, Democrats “declared war” on the presidency itself and not just Trump. Democrats need to “pull back” and avoid setting off a chain of endless impeachments.
