(ReliableNews.org) – President Joe Biden’s first State of the Union (SOTU) address came and went without much notice. Some Republican lawmakers like Representatives Lauren Boebert (CO) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA) opted to attend the speech, using it as an opportunity to heckle the embattled president. Others, like Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), decided to deny Biden the satisfaction of attending his congressional address in person.

Rubio’s absence from the speech shouldn’t have surprised anyone. In late February, he announced his intention to boycott the event over the Biden administration’s harsh COVID-19 mandates. He later added the requirement for a COVID test for attendance as a reason he was skipping Biden’s SOTU. However, he didn’t idly stand on the sidelines as the president made his pitch to Americans that everything was hunky-dory.
Instead, the Florida senator took to his Twitter account while watching the speech on TV to point out some of Biden’s more worrisome remarks. For example, he pointed out the president’s disconnect with the American people when he asked them to set aside politics when addressing issues related to the pandemic. As Rubio pointed out, not long ago, Biden called people who spoke out against COVID restrictions a “death cult.”
The President who called Republicans modern day segregationists & leads a party who called those who opposed nonsensical Covid rules a death cult now asks we stop seeing Covid as a partisan divide and each other as enemies #StateOfTheUnion

Rubio also trashed Biden over his remarks regarding border security, China relations and burn pits. As Rubio pointed out, do something about it. For example, support his bipartisan measure to aid veterans suffering the after-effects of military burn pits.
Whose approach do you like better — watching the speech on TV and mocking the president via Twitter or boycotting it all together?
