(ReliableNews.org) – There’s some debate regarding the world’s worst dictators. Caligula and Ivan the Terrible top many lists, with Idi Amin Dada and Saddam Hussein occupying top slots for more recent despots. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA) recently shared his thoughts on current tyrants.
On August 2, Fox News published a scathing op-ed piece by Gingrich explaining that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) presents the “greatest threat to constitutional liberty in our lifetime.” With the support of “cowardly” Democrats, Pelosi fashioned her leadership style after dictators like Fidel Castro, Vladimir Putin, and other modern autocrats.

One might think it’s a bold statement to make such a claim, but Gingrich backs it up. For instance, he cited:
- Pelosi’s threat to have House members and their staff arrested who don’t follow her mask mandate.
- The Speaker’s decision to erect fencing around the US Capitol Building was against the wishes of her own caucus members.
- The move to strip Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), a “duly elected Republican,” of her committee assignment.
- Speaker Pelosi’s appointment of Republicans to serve on her newly formed January 6 Select Committee.
Gingrich concluded his remarks suggesting the launch of “a concerted national campaign” to find enough “courageous Democrats” to stand up to Pelosi and defend American freedom.
