Rand Paul's Offer to Fly Omar Back to Somalia Resurfaces - Here's Why

(ReliableNews.org) – Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) appears to have trouble getting along with other lawmakers. Most recently, she started sparring with Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) after a couple of videos emerged of the flamboyant Trump supporter cracking jokes at the expense of the founding member of “The Squad.” In the wake of their feud, some politicos find themselves reminded of the time Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) went a couple of rounds with Omar himself.

True to form, Rep. Omar tried to go toe-to-toe with then-President Donald Trump after he suggested Omar and other squad members return to their respective homelands in a July 2019 tweet. Sen. Paul decided to step into the fray and offered to donate money towards purchasing a ticket for Omar to return to Somalia.

As he explained at the time, perhaps she might appreciate the great privilege of living in America more once she experienced life in her country of birth.

For those unfamiliar with Omar’s background, she was born in Somalia but fled with her parents when she was only 12-years-old. The family eventually immigrated to the United States in 1992 after spending roughly four years in a Kenyan refugee camp.

As a side note, it’s not just Republicans Omar and her other leftist comrades don’t seem to get along with. They’ve had more than their fair share of battles with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and other leading Democrats as well. Maybe if you can’t get along with either side, the problem is you.
