Scandal - Unaccompanied Children Forced Into Slavery Under Biden's Watch

( – When President Joe Biden was running for seat in the oval office, one big criticism of the Trump administration was the crisis at the border. During the campaign, there were stories of children ripped from their parents’ arms and kept in cages under subpar conditions. According to a recent report from Bloomberg, the current situation is worse, with the Biden administration losing track of approximately 45,000 unaccompanied migrant children. Unfortunately, the report suggests a group of labor traffickers may be transporting some of these minors to worksites.

Unaccompanied Minors and the Border

Over 114,000 children from other countries illegally crossed the border on their own this year, which is an increase of 38,000 from 2019. According to a report by Axios, the government can’t account for a whopping 40% of them.

Once people enter the country, Border Patrol processes them, and the US Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families (HHS) takes responsibility, sending them to one of 200 shelters across the US. The Associated Press learned 5 of those shelters each have more than 1,000 kids inside. Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX) requested the federal government close the holding places following allegations of abuse at two facilities in Texas. The Biden administration allegedly ignored his request.

Sadly, some of these Emergency Intake Sites may not have education, legal services, or activities to keep the children occupied. HHS spokesman Mark Weber said the department is working hard to keep them safe and healthy.

While in custody, the organization vets any nongovernmental organization and family members or sponsors taking the kids. However, the analyses reportedly don’t include FBI fingerprint background checks.

While most sponsors don’t want the federal government to contact them after they receive the children, procedures dictate a follow-up after 30 days to inquire about minors’ care. A report from May and obtained by Axios showed that 37% of the attempts to contact minors were unsuccessful.

Where Are the Children?

After the government processes and moves minors to family members or sponsors, it has little control or knowledge about their locations or activities. In short, the kids are no longer the federal government’s responsibility. With the rumors swirling around about transporting unaccompanied minors to labor facilities, one would think the Biden administration would do more to ensure their safety.

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle previously warned the government about relaxed immigration policies. It appears America is seeing the result of the federal government’s apathy and disorganization at the border.
