Ted Cruz Calls Out Biden and Harris Over Cuban Immigrants

Biden and Harris

(ReliableNews.org) – On Tuesday, July 13, Department of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, who’s an immigrant from Cuba, told his fellow countrymen that they won’t be welcome in the US if they travel by boat. He went on to say that if they came by boat and the Coast Guard did not capture them, the asylum seekers would be sent to another country for resettlement. Republicans immediately slammed the administration and Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) is calling them out.

Cruz Attacks

During an interview on Fox News, Cruz accused the Biden administration of discriminating against Cuban people. The senator, whose father fled Cuba in the 1950s, said it looks like the “only immigrants on the face of the Earth” that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris do NOT want in America are Cubans.

Cruz explained that the administration has allowed hundreds of thousands of immigrants to pour into America, but now he is saying no (to Cubans). He said this is the only time Biden has expressed “resistance to people coming here illegally.” Cruz pointed to the massive influx of immigrants at the southern border. In that case, DHS isn’t forcing the asylum seekers to resettle in another country, the agency is allowing them to come into America.

Double Standard

Cuban nationals have been protesting the treatment they are receiving on the island. The communist regime is trying desperately to stop dissent in the country. The government shut down the internet and arrested (reportedly) thousands of protesters. There are already reports of people trying to come to the US to get a taste of freedom. There was no reason to think Biden would take issue with people fleeing to America given his immigration track record for those south of the border.

When President Joe Biden took office and eliminated most of former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, the Left applauded him. His actions led to hundreds of thousands of immigrants pouring across the Mexican-American border. Many of the migrants who entered the country were seeking asylum in the US. Democrats soon tried to reframe the immigration situation as a humanitarian crisis that would only be solved by allowing those asylum seekers in the US.

Suddenly, Cuban immigrants aren’t being treated with the same respect. Some Republicans have said that is because migrants from Cuba are more likely to vote red. If that is the case, it makes sense that lawmakers like Cruz and others are so disgusted. The Left claims they are about equality, but are they really?
