(ReliableNews.org) – Sybrina Fulton’s Liberal activism since the death of her 17-year-old son is well known. So, you might think she’s on board with the “defund the police” movement that’s sweeping the Democratic Party. But, you’d be wrong.
Fulton’s son, Trayvon Martin, died in 2012 after being shot by George Zimmerman in an Orlando suburb in Florida. The man who pulled the trigger was later acquitted of all charges.
During an interview with The Guardian, the reporter asked Fulton if she agrees with the movement to defund police departments and reallocate funds. She said that she doesn’t and expressed the need for “more police.” Trayvon’s mom went on to explain she wants to “bridge the gap” between her community and law enforcement so she’s running for county commissioner in Florida. She announced her candidacy in a tweet earlier this month.

Fulton is right. We need more police, not fewer officers. The rioters and anti-police crowd should look to her as an example. Instead of burning things down or attacking law enforcement, she’s running for office and trying to actually change the problems she feels exist.
