(ReliableNews.org) – President Donald Trump met with Dr. Deborah Birx on Monday after the physician was verbally attacked by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
According to Daily Mail, during an August 3 press briefing, President Donald Trump said he met with Dr. Birx at the White House to discuss the coronavirus. The meeting happened soon after he blasted Pelosi for attacking Dr. Birx, saying the speaker was saying “horrible things” about the COVID-19 taskforce member.
Trump Calls Meeting
During the press briefing, a reporter asked the president about a tweet where he called Pelosi’s attacks on Birx, and her response “pathetic.” Trump went on to praise the doctor and said he told her they’re “doing very well.” While he has criticized Birx in the past, he’s never attacked her reputation.
President Trump then told the media he has a lot of “respect” for the doctor but Pelosi has treated Birx “very badly.”
The president skillfully destroyed the narrative the press was trying to create. They wanted him to disagree with Birx at the briefing and thought he would take their bait. Instead, he stood up for the doctor against Pelosi’s hostility and nasty attacks.
