(ReliableNews.org) – Widespread coronavirus testing is one of the metrics many health experts believe states need to consider before reopening their economies. Now, there’s good news on that front. President Donald Trump made an exciting announcement on Sunday regarding COVID-19 testing.
During the April 19 COVID-19 update, the president said the US has now tested more people than France, Canada, South Korea, the UK, India, Japan, Austria, Singapore, Australia, and Sweden — combined. In total, more than 4.18 million Americans have been tested for the coronavirus.

This is welcome news as some states gear up to reopen their economies on May 1. Last week, the president released a three-phase plan to get America back to work. He’s stressed repeatedly that states should only relax stay-at-home orders if it’s safe to do so. As more people are tested, that’ll be easier to determine.
