(ReliableNews.org) – On Monday, January 25, the House sent the article of impeachment against former President Donald Trump to the Senate for a trial. There was hope among Democrats that they might be able to get 17 Republicans to flip and support their shenanigans. Those hopes were dashed recently.
The day after the upper chamber received the article of impeachment, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) filed a motion to force a vote on whether or not the proceedings were constitutional. When the vote was over, the Senate agreed 55-45 to proceed with the trial. However, it proved that the vast majority of Republicans, including Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), are standing with Trump.
Paul celebrated the victory on Twitter.
The Senate just voted on my constitutional point of order.
45 Senators agreed that this sham of a “trial” is unconstitutional.
That is more than will be needed to acquit and to eventually end this partisan impeachment process.
This “trial” is dead on arrival in the Senate.

The trial won’t take place until February, but if the GOP senators who voted against the impeachment proceedings stand firm, the Left will lose again. And the door will be open for a Trump comeback in 2024.
