(ReliableNews.org) – Attention has returned to the crisis at the nation’s southern border with the botched Afghanistan withdrawal in the rearview mirror and COVID-19 infection rates and hospitalizations declining. Former presidential candidate and US Representative Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) spoke out recently against the federal government’s immigration policies, as well as the actions of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
Gabbard told Fox News host Jeanine Pirro that Mayorkas lied to Congress when he told them the nation’s borders were secure. In reality, the Biden Administration’s “open-door” border policy has led to migrants traveling north and crossing the border at an alarming rate.

Gabbard continued, noting that “actions speak louder than words.” It doesn’t matter how often administration officials tell people not to cross the border; their border policies tell a different tale.
Gabbard explained that the Biden Administration’s border policies have “emboldened” drug cartels and human traffickers to think there aren’t any meaningful consequences to their efforts to transport people and drugs across the border.
Gabbard then turned her attention to Mayorkas, warning him the American people are losing confidence in their leaders when they can’t tell the truth about the situation at the border. “The arrogance and… self-serving nature” of administration officials is leading to a critical breakdown of faith and trust.
President Joe Biden ended border wall construction on his first day in office and rescinded former President Donald Trump’s emergency declaration at the nation’s southern border. Perhaps it’s time for him to rethink those decisions.
