Violence On The Rise: Is Your City Safe?

( – When the protests started taking place in the wake of George Floyd’s death while in custody of the Minneapolis Police Department, many Americans expected them to stop when the officers involved were arrested. Maybe that would’ve been the case were it not for the violent agitators who hijacked the movement for their own benefit. Now, as the summer rolls on, experts are sounding the alarm.

Are Americans safe in their own cities?

Wave of Violence

For almost 50 days, Portland, Oregon, has been rocked by violence as a result of Leftist rioters who seem to want to take over the city. Just this week, the acting Secretary of Homeland Security, Chad Wolf, slammed officials for not taking control of the problem.

It’s not just riots causing the problem — there’s an uptick of violence all over. New York City has experienced an increase in shootings that have left many dead. This month in Brooklyn, a 1-year-old was shot to death while in a stroller.

In Philadelphia, a pregnant woman was gunned down in a drive-by shooting. An Indiana woman was murdered after allegedly saying “all lives matter.” A triple shooting in New Orleans cut a 9-year-old’s life short.

Why Is This Happening?

According to an Associated Press report, there isn’t an answer to that question. However, some experts believe the country is facing a toxic combination of problems including the COVID-19 pandemic, lost jobs, people being cooped up inside and other issues.

If Americans are wondering whether or not they’re safe, there’s not an easy answer for that question. It depends on where they live. There definitely seems to be more problems in cities run by Democrats. Atlanta, Seattle, New York City, Portland and others are all run by Liberals and all have been in the headlines for violence. But as we all know, correlation doesn’t equal causation, so it’s best to just be cautious.
