(ReliableNews.org) – Patriotism seems to have fallen by the wayside in the wake of recent political unrest coupled with the 2020 general elections. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) introduced an amendment to the House Judiciary Committee’s rules to start all its sessions with the Pledge of Allegiance. Democrats killed the suggestions voting unanimously against it.
The Athletic reported on February 9 that the Dallas Mavericks quit playing the National Anthem at home games at the direction of team owner Mark Cuban.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki appeared to claim that Joe Biden supported the move when asked about it during a press conference held on February 9.
She responded she hadn’t talked to Biden about the omission, but if he were asked about it, he would probably say there are times the country hadn’t “lived up to its highest ideals.” She went on to talk about the right of Americans to “peacefully protest,” another seeming endorsement of Cuban’s decision to drop the National Anthem.
Is this new anti-patriotism the new norm? Will Democrats continue destroying age-old practices like reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in Congress and starting major sporting events with the National Anthem? Let’s hope not, and kudos to Rep. Gaetz for continuing to fight the good fight.
