(ReliableNews.org) – The coronavirus is still spreading rapidly and now a World Health Organization (WHO) expert has made a sobering claim.
Marion Koopmans, head of viroscience at Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam, Netherlands said the virus fits the criteria for “Disease X.” This is a WHO designation for a virus that could turn into a worldwide epidemic.
⚠️The @WHO has long worried that a mysterious “disease X” could spark an international contagion.
The #coronavirus is rapidly becoming the “first true #pandemic challenge that fits the ‘disease X’ category.”

According to the health organization’s definition, Disease X is created “by a pathogen currently unknown to cause human disease.” Koopmans, who is also a member of WHO’s emergency response team, said the coronavirus is the “the first true pandemic challenge that fits the disease X category.”
Disease X or not, the virus is wreaking havoc on the world. Currently, it’s spread to two dozen countries, infected over 80,000 and killed more than 2,700 people.
