Widow of Trump Rally Victim Rejects Biden’s Call

(ReliableNews.org) – Corey Comperatore, 50, attended a Chris Stapleton concert on Friday, July 12. The next day, he woke up early with his family to go to a rally for former President Donald Trump. He never made it home that night after he lost his life to a bullet meant for the Republican nominee. His family refused to speak to President Joe Biden in the days that followed his death.

She said that Trump had not reached out to her family yet but she had received a phone call from Biden. She said, “I didn’t talk to Biden. I didn’t want to talk to him.”

Mrs. Comperatore explained to the Post that she declined the phone call because her late “husband was a devout Republican” who wouldn’t have wanted her to speak to the Democratic president. She made it clear that she did not hold Biden responsible for her beloved husband’s death though, saying Biden didn’t hurt him, “A 20-year-old despicable kid did.”

Thomas Matthew Crooks allegedly killed Comperatore, critically wounded two others, and grazed Trump in the upper ear. Police do not have a motive for the assassination attempt. They have said there’s no evidence the suspected killer had any strongly held political beliefs.

While Mrs. Comperatore made it clear Biden had nothing to do with her spouse’s death and said she doesn’t hold any ill will toward him, her sister-in-law wasn’t so forgiving. Kelly Comperatore Meeder, 56, blamed Biden and the media for her brother’s murder. She claimed that they created a divisive political environment. The grieving sister also said that the alleged killer was only 20 years old and he didn’t come back from war or see anything horrible. Comperatore Meeder said the suspected killer just knew what he heard and what “the media ha[d] portrayed [Trump] to be, and that’s very unfair.”

Mrs. Comperatore and her sister-in-law revealed the former president had finally contacted the family on Monday night. The victim’s wife said that Trump was “very kind” and promised to reach out to her again. She said that she told him that her husband died a hero. He’d jumped in front of his wife and two daughters to shield them from the bullets.
