(ReliableNews.org) – The Senate is currently negotiating the next coronavirus stimulus package. Earlier this week, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said the starting point would be $1 trillion. Now, it’s coming to light just where that money might go.
On July 21, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said the GOP’s going to propose a more than $100 billion addition to the package for schools. The leader said the American people want their “kids back in the classroom” and the money will allow schools to “safely reopen.”
"This country wants its kids back in the classroom this Fall learning, exploring, making friends. Their educations depend on it." https://t.co/VNy5hKZVlY

In order to reopen safely, schools will absolutely need funding. This news will make parents sigh with relief. Kids need to get back in their classrooms so parents can go back to work. With America’s children at home, moms and dads are being forced to either stay home with their children, or pay an exorbitant amount of money for daycare. Knowing their school districts will have the money to keep everyone safe, is welcome news.
There’s no word on when the Senate will vote on the package.
