(ReliableNews.org) – Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) is currently blocking the Senate from confirming military promotions. Members of both parties have called for him to stop what he’s doing, but the lawmaker refuses. Recently, an ex-CIA chief made a remark that caused the senator to contact the police.
On October 10, Tuberville contacted the Capitol Police to inform them of a tweet from former CIA Director Michael Hayden, who served in the role under former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. The Alabama senator claims the former intelligence official was promoting “politically motivated assassination.”
The disagreement stems from an incident on X, formerly Twitter. Nathalie Jacoby asked her followers if they thought Tuberville should be removed from his committee because he was blocking military promotions. Heyden, a decorated general, responded, “How about the human race?”

Tuberville called Hayden’s remark “disgusting” and said it was “repugnant.” He accused the former CIA director of “committing a serious crime.” The senator said that he expects the Capitol Police will “do an excellent job […] bringing criminals to justice.”
The senator is blocking military promotions and nominees because he doesn’t agree with President Joe Biden’s administration paying for the travel expenses for military members and their spouses if they need to go out of state for an abortion. The pro-life senator believes the policy is bad for the country. More than 300 service members are waiting for their nominations and promotions to go through.
Hayden was unbothered by the criticism he’s faced for his remark on X. In a follow-up post on the day Tuberville reported him to the police, he said he was “surprised” when he woke up and learned “MAGAnuts had lost their minds” over his comments. He said he is standing by his view regarding the Republican senator and wished everyone a nice day.
I was surprised to wake up this morning and discover that many MAGAnuts had lost their minds over my suggestion that “Coach” Tuberville not be considered a member of the human race. I stand by that view. I’m wishing you all a nice day even the intransigent Tommy Tuberville.

Hayden has called Tuberville an “idiot” and a “racist” in the past as well. The Capitol Police have not commented on the complaint.
