On April 6, billionaire investor John Paulson held a major fundraiser for former President Donald Trump in Palm Beach, Florida. Mrs. Trump attended the event with her husband, but people on the internet targeted her because they believed she didn’t want to be at the event.
Ron Filipkowski, the editor-in-chief of MeidasTouch, shared a video of the former first lady and said she looked like she was “in a hostage video” during the event.

Another commentator remarked that it looked like Mrs. Trump was “checking the clock for the end of her shift.”

Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, a former senior advisor for Melania Trump, shared the video as well and said she was “about to dive head first into a pool of sharks [and] nobody’s going to protect her.”
The campaign appearance was the first time she attended an event since Trump became the presumptive Republican nominee for president. She was previously spotted at a polling location on the day of the Florida GOP primary.
It’s not clear if the campaign event signaled the beginning of more appearances to come by Melania Trump. She is currently mourning the loss of her mother who passed away in January. Barron Trump recently turned 18 and is reportedly looking at colleges. The former first lady will likely play a significant role in his hunt. However, she was heavily involved in both the 2016 and 2020 campaigns. She even spoke at the Republican National Convention (RNC) during both of the former president’s previous campaigns.
According to Trump’s campaign, the event in Palm Beach raised $50 million.
