Rapper Chris King Murdered in Nashville at 32

(ReliableNews.org) – Christopher Stacy Cheeks Jr., known professionally as Chris King, worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry. He was just 32 years old but had already made a tremendous impact. Unfortunately, his life recently came to an abrupt and horrifying end in Tennessee.

On April 20, the Nashville Police Department issued a press release announcing the Homicide Unit was investigating leads into a shooting that happened at 2:30 that morning. The shooting left Cheeks dead and another man injured.

According to police, the shooting occurred in an alleyway, where Cheeks was with a group of friends. They were hanging out when three men walked up to them. The injured victim, a 29-year-old male, told detectives the three men tried to rob them. Suddenly, he said he heard gunfire and everyone ran.

Authorities found Cheeks in the Hayes Street Hotel parking garage. The injured victim was located on the street. Both men were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where Cheeks died.

The rapper was in the music business for about 11 years. During his career, he worked with his best friend Trippie Redd on multiple projects. Redd posted photos of the two of them together on Instagram and said he wouldn’t be where he was if it weren’t for Cheeks and that he loved him.

Keke Palmer shared a photo of her and the rapper from years ago, saying she wished she “had more photos” but that the one she shared was perfect. She said she couldn’t believe she was “saying rest in peace,” calling it “terrible.”

Justin Bieber, who was once roommates with Cheeks, paid tribute to his friend on Saturday in an Instagram Story saying, “Love you bro. This one hurts.” He asked his followers to keep the rapper’s family in their prayers.

Nashville police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
